THE BIG BANG THEORY FUNNY PICS NO.1


Crazy Experiment No.2- MENTOS AND COKE

Ah, Mentos and Coke... This is a real classic that really doesn't need any explanation into how to do it. So, I will just give you some advice:

1. Keep as far away from it as possible. There have been a lot of accidents when people have been just a little too close, and it goes rocketing into them (occasionally hitting the odd boy in the groin...). so I would advise to drop the mento into the coke, then immediately take cover.

2. Use fresh coke for best results. Of course it's not gonna work if you use flat coke because all the Carbon Dioxide has now escaped.

3. DON'T USE A WHOLE F***ING PACKET.

4. DON'T DO IT IN THE HOUSE.

5. DON'T PLACE IT NEAR A BLOODY WINDOW.

6. It is not amusing to place it so that it hits your friend in the groin.

The Results No.1- ELEPHANT TOOTHPASTE

So, as I promised, I would be posting some awesome results created (including one that is incredibly cruel to a pumpkin...). Here are my favorites:

1. COLGATE TOOTHPASTE

Looks like someone has taken the Toothpaste a little too seriously. It create this effect, simply drop a bit of green on one side of the inside of the bottle, and red on the other side of the inside of the bottle. That is if you really want to take the piss if your mum and dad say that you need to use more toothpaste when cleaning your teeth.
2. SICK PUMPKIN

Now this is a little cruel towards the pumpkin. It's quite easy to do this, as you simply place this into your Halloween pumpkin, and let it ooze out in a cool but slightly disturbing fashion. If you really want to make it look a bit more disturbing, use ALOT of red food coloring.


  3. PASTEL PERFECT.

Now I know this looks a bit boring, but it's a perfect example of the reaction taking place correctly. Plus, I also love the color, because it looks more subtle. I would of course gone for a much darker purple if it were me...






4. SQUIRTY CREAM

Now this is just plain awesome. It's just a giant plastic sphere, but with loads of holes placed strategically in the top to create this result. A little more color would make it less boring, but...

Crazy Experiment No.1- ELEPHANT TOOTHPASTE

No, this is not actual toothpaste for Elephants. It is the name given to the reaction created when mixing Hydrogen Peroxide, Potassium Iodide and Dish Soap. This is one that you can actually try at home. If you haven't got any Potassium Iodide in your house, then you could use dry yeast and warm water, with the ratio of 3 tablespoons of water to every 1 tablespoon of dry yeast. Don't forget the food coloring though. You can chose more than one color if you wish to create really pretty results.

INSTRUCTIONS (Sorry, I haven't got any pictures as my camera is being an ass at the moment...):

1. Remember to put on goggles, apron and gloves for the experiment, as the Hydrogen Peroxide used for this experiment is a bit stronger than what you would normally get.

2. Use a plastic bottle or a large conical flask and put it on a plastic tray.

3. Put a funnel into the bottle to avoid spillages.

4. Pour the Hydrogen Peroxide (slowly, and don't use too much unless you want a HUGE amount of toothpaste coming out or exploding everywhere.) into the funnel.

5. Now you can add the food coloring of your choice. After that, squirt in a little dish soap, then squish it round carefully to mix it up.

6. Now mix the dry yeast with the water, and stir for 30 seconds. Make sure it is smooth, not lumpy.

7. Now, you have to act quickly for this bit. Pour the yeast and water solution into the bottle, and quickly remove the funnel.

ET VOILA! That's how you make ELEPHANT TOOTHPASTE! I will post pictures of some of the awesome results that people have created onto a post later on.

Summary of the main areas of science!


QUICK SUMMARY OF THE THREE MAIN AREAS OF SCIENCE:

BIOLOGY- The one that you get to cut up (or dissect if you want the scientific term) living organisms to inspect the inner contents. It's quite gross, and it may contain ALOT of blood. Oh, and it also relates to the anatomy of the human body, where you are told to research about different organs, systems, muscles and bones (and also diseases, which is linked to microbiology) that are within (Oh, and if you are researching about the brain, that is called neurobiology or neurology) the anatomy.

PHYSICS- Like I said before, it's like maths, but with the risk that you could electrocute yourself. However, there are some quite cool things in physics. Thermal energy (LOTS OF FIRE!), Hydroelectricity (ALOT OF WATER!) and, um... that's about it. It is very useful, but unless you want to be like Sheldon Cooper, I would not take it too seriously.

CHEMISTRY- The big daddy of all sciences. This is where you can mix things together to see what will happen, and how it happens. You get to use metals, gases, acids, alkaline, carbonates, phosphates etc... plus, if you are really lucky, you might be able to look at a couple of poisons that won't kill you (hopefully...)
If it goes right, it can be absolutely awesome. If it goes wrong... well, it goes wrong. But that's what science is about though! Not the small risk of getting killed, but the chance to try it again. That's what an experiment is- trial and error. Just don't ever wear hairspray near a Bunsen burner...

Science isn't boring! (apart from physics...)

Now people always say that science is really boring, and at least a third of it is (physics....). But, what some people always forget are the awesome experiments that they don't show you at school, because it is too messy, too dangerous (it's not if you actually know what you are doing) or they just want to make chemistry as boring as possible so that you don't want to pursue a carrier in science.

Well, that's all about to change. I'm here to tell you about some of the coolest (and on occasion, freakiest) experiments, some of which that you can try at home, or in your school.
So, if you're one of those people who think science is boring, well think again, as I can assure you that only a third of it (Physics... I mean, it's just maths but with the possibility of electrocuting yourself by accident.) is boring.
